I wanted to share links to some of our favorite treat dispensing and chew toys. Treat dispensing toys are an excellent way to give your dog a project to work on and provide him mental stimulation. The best part from his perspective is that he is rewarded for his efforts. If you need to crate your dog or tether her somewhere while guests come over or you are making dinner, for example, these toys can keep her occupied and happy while you are otherwise busy.
Rawhide isn’t safe for dogs as it can cause intestinal blockages. Instead, there are a few other chewy items that are digestible and still give lots of time-consuming enjoyment for your dog.
- Kong Wobbler: Barley gets many of her dinners out of this toy – it keeps her mentally stimulated and it also slows down the rate at which she inhales food!
- Omega Paw Tricky Treat Ball: Barley often gets her breakfast out of this ball – she loves it, especially on carpet, instead of the hard wood floors. Go figure!
- Kong: I just did a Facebook Live video on how I use our regular food in a Kong and freeze it to make it more challenging and time consuming for Barley to enjoy. Oops – it was sideways. Sorry!
- No Hide chicken chews
- Small bully sticks, made in the USA with no antibiotics or growth hormones
